Sorry, not this way!
Sporting Memories was established to reignite connections between generations and to combat the effects of dementia, depression and loneliness in communities. By enabling the sharing of memories of sporting moments and tapping into a passion for sport, we help people to connect with others and with their past, reawakening positive thoughts and feelings that otherwise remain hidden away.
The Sporting Memories Network Replay Sport App, created by Shaw, allows users to access thousands of sporting memories submitted by users and to access many thousands of classic sporting images. It encourages people to share memories and makes it easy to save a collection of memories to replay later and reminisce with others. A further element within the initiative is the capacity for users to create a personalised vintage newspaper, the Sporting Pink.
The project involved the development of Android and IOS apps to allow users to record audio, video and add text and images to the memories database. We also designed and built the Sporting Memories website (www.sportingmemoriesnetwork.com)
Sporting Memories works with schools and organisations throughout the UK, with bodies such as Spirit of 2012, and England Rugby (Rugby Football Union), and with sporting celebrities including Steve Redgrave and Katherine Grainger. In 2014 it was awarded the Best National Dementia Friendly Initiative by the Alzheimer’s Society and the Best Football Community Scheme in the Football Business Awards.
We continue to work on digital initiatives to provide the foundation for the organisation’s continued innovation and development.
